Color Matters

The fashion industry tends to take the lead on the trends (such as color, shape, fabric, motifs, etc) that you see trickle down to other design industries such as art, interior design, gift design, make-up lines, accessories, etc. It all starts with COLOR. It has been scientifically proven that color has a huge influence on how we feel about something, so of course it is a great motivator! Since Spring has sprung here in Seattle, there is nothing more exciting than new colors we can wear in our wardrobe. Remember, there are no strict rules; these are just guidelines!
I like to pair a color with a neutral. This is a chic way to ground the color. Neutral colors are great especially in pants, jackets, skirts. These colors are black, khaki, brown, grey, denim blue, white, etc. Colors predicted by Pantone (the color trendsetting king) at the start of the Spring 2010 New York Fashion week are Turquoise (#1 color), Dark Orangey Red, Coral, Violet, Beige (Pink and Grey tones), Yellow (greenish tinge), Cobalt Blue, Pink Champagne, and Khaki Green.
